Nagaon Medical College is affiliated with Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences. The university was established in 2009 under The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences Act, 2007. It is the only health university in the North Eastern Region with jurisdiction over the entire state of Assam.

The university is currently located at Narakasur Hill Top, Bhangagarh, Guwahati-32.
